Where Our Water Comes From

Most of the NBU operations once housed on this site moved to other locations years ago, making way for the property’s environmental restoration. Our pump yard and its historic structures, however, are still operational, drawing water from the Edwards Aquifer and storing it for use throughout New Braunfels. Seeing this operating well alongside the springs is a powerful reminder of how our water use directly impacts habitats and the environment.

The Edwards Aquifer collects and stores rainwater falling on a vast expanse of South Central Texas. This water is then extracted to meet the needs of millions of people and businesses, including residents of the growing cities of San Antonio, San Marcos, and New Braunfels.
