Dear Friends:

Headwaters at the Comal relies on support received from generous donors. This support transformed four acres of asphalt into restored native prairie and protected the Comal Spring’s headwaters from storm water pollution. This support allowed us to connect more than 13,000 people to this place, where people have visited for thousands of years. This place, the very reason New Braunfels was founded, is a place of beauty abounding. This place, the source of our vibrant economy needs to be protected and preserved for our children – and their children’s children, to cherish and enjoy, a lasting legacy.

Our partners in research have identified over 1,000 species of native plants, grasses, insects, and birds in what was an asphalt-covered parking lot. A restorative and welcoming community space has been created to provide refuge and respite for visitors of all ages to gather, walk, learn, and reflect.

Now more than ever, as New Braunfels experiences tremendous growth, the importance of protecting these springs of the Comal River is evident. Nature and its restorative power play a significant role in our well-being. Restoration of native habitat and access to nature is a rare find. A place like Headwaters at the Comal is invaluable and will be cherished for generations to come.

With the launch of our Phase 2 Capital Campaign, we invite you to partner with us to further protect the Comal Springs’ headwaters and create a premier education center, which will inspire hearts and minds on the importance of conservation to the community.

Thank You,

Nancy Pappas
